The Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD) / UNESCO Category 2 Institute is thrilled to announce the Prize Giving Ceremony for the Children’s Photography Competition, taking place on Thursday 21st November 2024, at the National Library. This special event will celebrate not only the winners of the photography competition but also the Universal Children’s Day and IECD’s first anniversary as a UNESCO Category 2 Institute.
Winners for the main 3 categories namely category 1 – Creche Year 1 and Year 2, Category 1 – Primary 1 and Category 3 – Primary 2 will be honoured with exciting and interested prizes from our sponsors including, the Seychelles National Institute of Culture Heritage and the Arts, the National Arts and Crafts Council, Seychelles Island Foundation, Seychelles Heritage Foundation, and the Seychelles Parks and Garden Authority.
The objective of the IECD Children Photography Competition initiative was to engage children in exploring their cultural and natural surroundings beyond the classroom. We wanted them to connect with their heritage through the art of photography and foster a sense of appreciation and responsibility for its preservation.
The Prize Giving Ceremony will feature addresses from key figures, including the Secretary General of the Seychelles National Institute of Culture, Heritage and the Arts, Mr. David Andre, and the Chief Executive Officer of the IECD, Mrs. Shirley Choppy. The ceremony promises to be an inspirational event, celebrating the creativity of our young talents and their unique perspectives on Seychelles’ culture.
We invite members of the media to cover this significant occasion and witness the celebration of the art and culture through the eyes of our children. The ceremony will commence at 10:30 AM, and attendees can look forward to a showcase of remarkable photographs captured by our young participants.
