To mark the conclusion of the first quarter of the year, the Office of Human Resource and Budget Management organized a half-day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) session for the staff of the Institute. The event was graced by the Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Shirley Choppy.
Advocacy Survey Results Shared with Staff
During the CPD session, the results of the 2024 Advocacy Survey, conducted by the Institute in December 2024, were disclosed to the staff. It was found that 86% of respondents are knowledgeable about the initiatives and programmes being implemented by the Institute. The online survey engaged over 340 participants across various platforms, including the new Child Care Benefit Information System Seychelles (CBISS). The data indicated that respondents had the highest level of knowledge regarding the Government Financial Assistance Scheme, while the National Standards for Childminding Services and the Early Learning Programme initiatives followed closely in knowledge level, both exceeding 80%.
Mr. Egbert Benstrong, the Director for Research, Data Management, and Knowledge Production, presented these findings. The insights will help shape the Institute’s new Communication Strategy and enable staff to better plan their advocacy, communication, and promotional activities for the year.
In a subsequent presentation, Ms. Shelda Commettant, the Director for Advocacy, Information, and Capacity Building, introduced staff to new procedures being implemented to create a Master Plan for Advocacy, Media, and Communication for the Institute for the year.
Additionally, during the session, the CEO officially signed the new Framework of Standards, Rules, and Procedures for the Institute. The framework aligns with the Employment Act and Public Service Order. Ms. Jacqueline Hoareau, the Human Resource and Budget Management Officer, provided a brief overview of the document and followed by endorsement by most staff for immediate implementation.
The final presentation was by Ms. Nathalie Moustache, Director for International Corporation and Exchange. She presented the Institute new Band Toolkit which has been developed in response to the Institute for Early Childhood Development (IECD) achieving Category 2 status under the Auspices of UNESCO. The purpose of the Band Toolkit is to provide resources and guidelines for enhancing operational practices and promoting the values of the Institute across various platforms.
