In a unanimous decision, the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD) UNESCO Category 2 Institute has elected Dr. Geraldine Teo-Zuzarte as its new Vice-Chairperson during the second Governing Board meeting held on 11th June, 2024, at the Savoy Hotel and Spa in Seychelles.
Dr. Teo-Zuzarte, a seasoned professional and representative of Singapore, has been a member of the IECD/UNESCO C2I Governing Board since October 2023. Her nomination was put forward by Dr. Mmantsetsa Marope, the current Chairperson, and endorsed by all board members present.
Upon accepting this new role, Dr. Teo-Zuzarte expressed her gratitude to her colleagues for entrusting her with this significant responsibility, describing it as a “huge and humbling opportunity.” As Vice-Chairperson, she will provide crucial support to the Chairperson and other members of the Governing Board, as well as assume the chair’s duties in her absence.
As a prominent figure in early childhood development, Dr. Teo-Zuzarte’s appointment is expected to bring valuable expertise and leadership to the IECD/UNESCO C2I Governing Board and her role will play a vital part in shaping its strategic direction and initiatives. With Dr. Teo-Zuzarte at the helm as Vice-Chairperson, the IECD/UNESCO C2I is poised to continue making significant contributions to the global effort to improve early childhood development outcomes
