Mrs. Emilie Lesperance is officially the first Home-Based Childminder to be registered with the (IECD), something she is very proud of. The mother of three boys has been caring for children in her home at Baie Ste Anne on Praslin for the past two years. However her journey as a Childminder began a long time ago overseas.
Currently, Emilie who is presently caring for four children attended training on the National Standards for Childminding Services. “I have learned a lot from the different sessions which were very interesting; with this knowledge, I have been able to implement the mandatory requirements to register as a Childminder.” Emilie is thankful for the continued support being provided by IECD
Although she recognizes the challenges in caring for children, Mrs. Lesperance feels that it is important to have patience in everything one does and to be guided spiritually. Her wish for the future is to continue caring for children and to see other childminders come forward to register with IECD.
