The staff of the IECD/UNESCO Category 2 Institute recently had the privilege of participating in a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) session led by Dr. Geraldine Teo-Zuzarte, a member of the Institute’s Governing Board, from Singapore. Dr. Teo-Zuzarte brought her expertise to share with the staff; a participatory approach to quality improvement and assurance in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
The session focused on the Singapore story, providing an in-depth look at the country’s efforts to develop its ECCE system. The presentation delved into the various models implemented, the challenges faced in implementing early childhood care and education policies, and the approaches used to engage with policymakers and parents.
During the interactive session, staff engaged with Dr. Teo-Zuzarte to gain insights on the effective implementation of Singapore’s ECCE frameworks. She shared her expertise on how the country overcame challenges in putting these policies into practice, offering valuable lessons learned that staff could apply to their own work.
The CPD session was an invaluable opportunity for the IECD/UNESCO Category 2 Institute staff to gain knowledge and skills in quality improvement and assurance. The Institute looks forward to continuing its commitment to providing high-quality professional development opportunities for its staff.
Dr. Geraldine Teo-Zuzarte was appointed to the Governing Board of the IECD / UNESCO Category 2 Institute by the President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan in October 2023.
