In commemoration of the 64th Universal Children’s Day, the Institute of Early Childhood Development reaffirms its commitment to the children of Seychelles by continuing to strive for their right to holistic development whilst preparing the terrain for our future generations.
As we reflect on this year’s National Theme: ‘Sesel, mon pei beni’ we realize that despite our many challenges, each and every child born into our small island nation is blessed: with free healthcare, education and laws set in place to ensure that their wellbeing is safeguarded.
It is impossible to build a stable house without a solid foundation hence investing in Early Childhood Development is the most cost effective investment a country can make because Early Childhood is the foundation of every society. It is our duty therefore to ensure that essential resources are directed towards our children, especially in their formative years, since healthy, educated and protected children make for happy, wholesome, upright and productive adults.
Children, enjoy your special day but also take a little time to think about your importance in your family, school, community and our society. The choices you make today will definitely impact your tomorrow.
