PRESIDENT RAMKALAWAN APPOINTS NEW IECD BOARD AND APPEAL BOARD MEMBERS

On Monday 6th January, 2025, the Office of the President announced the appointment of the new Board of the Institute of Early Childhood Development (IECD). 

Dr. Xavier Rose, a Medical Doctor from the Health Care Agency in the Health ECCE Sector, has been appointed as the new Board Chairman, succeeding Captain David Savy, who led the institute’s board since its inception and for over a decade. Mr. Mohammed Afif, a founding member of the Institute, will serve as the Board’s new Vice-Chairperson.

Five other individuals have been appointed as ordinary members, including two new appointments:

– Ms. Sonia Mancienne

– Ms. Amelie Nourrice

– Ms. Beryl Laboudallon

– Ms. Mavis Lespoir (new)

– Mr. Ralph Agrippine (new)

Mrs. Shirley Choppy, the Chief Executive Officer, will serve as an ex-officio member.

The new board is set to serve a three-year term commencing on 1st January, 2025. 

In a statement from State House, the President expressed the Government’s appreciation and gratitude to the outgoing Chairman for his invaluable contribution and leadership to the Institute of Early Childhood Development, and his involvement and dedication which have played a pivotal role in leading IECD to become a

Category 2 Institute for Early Childhood Care Education under the auspices of UNESCO.

Additionally, the Chairperson, Ms. Michelle Marguerite has been re-appointed as the Chairperson of the Appeals Board for the IECD, alongside the re-appointment of members – Mr. Alex Souffe and Ms. Anne-Marie Bibi. This Appeals board will also serve a three-year term starting January 1, 2025.
