IECD Staff from the Regulatory Affairs Section were participants at the Risk Indicator Assessment Framework (RIAF) workshop organized by the Social Affairs Department, on Wednesday 20th September 2023.
They were joined by officers from the Department as well as representative from the Elles foundation, a new Non-Government organization advocating and educating pregnant teenagers, teenage mothers and their children on reproductive health and other related issues.
The focal persons from the Ministry of Education and the Health Care Agency, Mrs. Desiree Hermitte and Ms. Agnes Cesar, apprised the workshop on the procedures in place for early detection of children at risk. They also talked about the intervention and referral processes that exist at their organisations.
Participants at the workshop also got the chance to have a greater understanding of how the Housing Point System works when handling at risk cases by the Housing Department who is mandated to provide housing assistance to vulnerable families.
The Convention on the Rights of the Child and its link to the RIAF were discussed and participants were presented with the latest statistics on reported cases of abuse from 2019 to date.
